‘The world you created for no longer exists’ Conversation w/ A/D/O Global Curator Anne Laure Pingreoun

Dejha Ti and Ania Catherine discuss the evolution of their work, De-, commissioned by A/D/O Brooklyn, followed by a conversation with Anne-Laure Pingreoun (ADO Global Curator, and Founder of Alternative Thinkers) as part of CADAF Virtual Art Fair 2020.

A conversation with Dejha Ti and Ania Catherine (Artists) and Anne-Laure Pingreoun (Curator and Founder of Alternative Thinkers) as part of CADAF Virtual Art Fair 2020. Artists and award-winning digital experience designers, Dejha Ti and Ania Catherine discuss the evolution of their latest work, De-, commissioned by A/D/O Brooklyn. The work is a naturalistic science fiction ruin of 2020’s digital architectures as well as a literal ruin of the artists’ installation that never opened due to mandatory shut-downs. The conceptual expiration of the original work represents a larger expiration of cultural and social structures—leaving them not only to reimagine the installation but to also reimagine our relationship to technology moving forward. The historical shifts that took place between January 2020 and now are reflected through the narrative of De- and the iterations thereof. Ti and Catherine engage in conversation with the commissioning curator Anne-Laure Pingreoun, founder of Alternative Thinkers, about the subjects touched on by De- including: the shift of technology from entertainment to essential, the potential of calm technology, society’s intolerance of boredom, surveillance capitalism, art in response to crises, and the intentional deconstruction of digital architectures and what might replace them.
