OPEN CALL — DANCERS SOUGHT
HUMAN UNREADABLE ACT III PREMIERE
NEW YORK CITY (INSTITUTION TO BE DISCLOSED SUMMER 2026)
This is a new evening-length work by artist duo Operator (Dejha Ti & Ania Catherine), the culmination of their seminal work Human Unreadable set in a museum in Manhattan. The series of performances unfolds in a 360° immersive format. There is no traditional stage-to-audience divide. Dancers will move through and alongside the audience, requiring a deep comfort with proximity, presence, and live exchange.
The work is choreographed by Ania Catherine and draws on the intersection of movement, physical expression, vulnerability and algorithms. Seeking performers who are as comfortable with stillness and voice as they are in motion.
DATES
Rehearsals and Tech will take place from October 16-November 18, 2026.
Performances will take place from November 19-November 22, 2026.
Up to two performance days will feature two performances.
Availability for all rehearsal and performance dates is required.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Trained dancers with a strong movement foundation. Experience in dance theater, contemporary, somatic, or physical theater practices is a plus.
Must be local to New York City and available for all rehearsal dates beginning October 16 through all performances November 19–22.
Comfort with theatrical physicality, the blurring of performance and presence, of gesture and intention.
Some roles may incorporate use of the voice (this does not mean singing). Dancers should simply be comfortable with spoken word, audible breath, or other natural vocal expression as part of movement practice and performance.
